Tempi train crash trial: Parents of Cypriot student testify in Larissa

During the 40th session of the Tempi train crash trial at the Larissa Three-Member Misdemeanor Court, the parents of 23-year-old Cypriot student Kyrianos Papaioannou provided emotional testimony. The parents, Georgios and Christodoulos Papaioannou, detailed the harrowing moments following the collision and the subsequent fire and explosion.

Christodoulos Papaioannou described the search for his son and requested a full investigation into the causes of the fire. Georgios Papaioannou shared memories of his son's love for Greece and the distress felt when communication with him was lost. The mother also testified regarding the disrespectful manner in which her son's body was handled by authorities following the accident.

Defendants Pavlos Kouzis and Spyridon Pateras were present during the proceedings. The court expects further testimony from survivors of the collision.
