Tempted wins Concorde Stakes to prepare for Everest challenge

The sprinter Tempted secured a dominant victory in the Concorde Stakes at Randwick, marking a significant lead-up to the $20 million Everest. Raced as the favorite, the four-year-old Godolphin mare unleashed a powerful turn of foot from the second half of the field to defeat last year’s winner, Headwall, by a long neck. Tempted set a race record with a time of 55.6 seconds.

Trainer Ciaron Maher expressed confidence in the mare’s form, stating she is “even better than she was” and continues to improve. The upcoming schedule for Tempted includes a run in the Premiere Stakes on October 3, followed by the Everest on October 17.

Her performance positions her as a primary challenger to the defending champion, Ka Ying Rising. The Hong Kong superstar is scheduled to resume racing at Sha Tin in the HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup before heading to Australia to defend his title.
