Tems Becomes First Woman Executive Producer of 'Children of Blood and Bone' Soundtrack

Nigerian Grammy‑winning singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, has been appointed executive music producer and curator of the soundtrack for Paramount Pictures’ fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone, an adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel. Director Gina Prince‑Bythewood announced at the New York trailer launch that Tems will oversee the musical direction and has recorded three original songs, making her the first woman to executive‑produce a soundtrack of this scale. Burna Boy has been named executive music consultant, while other Afrobeats artists—including Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML and BNXN (Benson)—will also contribute tracks. Ayra Starr appears in the film, marking her Hollywood acting debut, and Tems’ hit “Me & U” features in the teaser released on Instagram. The film, starring Viola Davis, Idris Elba and others, is slated for worldwide theatrical release on 15 January 2027.

Prince‑Bythewood said, “She’s actually the first woman to executive produce a soundtrack at this level,” and added, “I wanted Tems to curate the soundtrack. I wanted her to EP.”
