Temu recalls wooden toys over choking hazards for young children

The online marketplace Temu has issued a recall for two wooden toys sold on its platform because of safety concerns. The products—a wooden bead‑sorting set (product ID 601100225205601, sold by Tong Cheng) and a 2‑in‑1 wooden magnetic fishing motor‑skill toy (product ID 603651930170386, sold by GLOBAL PROMO under the OPHY brand)—were found to have small parts that can detach, creating an acute choking risk. The fishing toy is also not suitable for children under 36 months despite its labeling.

Consumers are advised to remove the items from children’s reach immediately and to request refunds through Temu’s support centre. Consumer‑protection authorities note that such safety deficiencies are common on online marketplaces and cite upcoming EU toy‑safety regulations that will impose stricter requirements on sellers and manufacturers.

The recall applies to sales in the European Union, with German consumer agencies highlighting the need for verified safety marks such as the GS seal.
