Temuco hosts third security forum for citizens and authorities

The third “Hablemos de Seguridad” (Let’s Talk About Security) citizen forum was held at the Universidad de La Frontera in Temuco. Organized by civil society organizations, the event aimed to foster dialogue between residents, neighborhood committees, and public order authorities to address local insecurity and strengthen community coexistence.

The panel featured prosecutor Nelly Marabolí, Carabineros General Miguel Herrera, and deputies José Montalva and Cristian Neira. Other attendees included Mayor Roberto Neira, security officials, and representatives from the PDI and the Ministry of Government. Previous iterations of the forum have led to discussions regarding the implementation of real-time surveillance cameras and addressing the decline in crime reporting.
