Temuco launches historic art exhibition from Destacamento Tucapel

The municipality of Temuco inaugurated the exhibition “Legado y Patrimonio: Pinacoteca Histórica del Destacamento de Montaña N.º 8 Tucapel”, displaying roughly 50 oil paintings, watercolors and heritage objects curated by the military unit. The exhibition is housed in the “Pablo” room of the Pablo Neruda National Railway Museum and will remain open to the public free of charge until 8 July.

The showcase results from a collaboration between the Temuco municipal Directorate of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, the Mountain Detachment No. 8 Tucapel and the Friends of Art Circle, and is part of events marking the 150th anniversary of the regional capital. Mayor Roberto Neira Aburto said the municipality is committed to rescuing and promoting cultural heritage. Curator Hernol Flores highlighted the importance of institutional cooperation, while Colonel Mauricio Siebert, commander of the Detachment, stressed the collection’s value for the community. Councilor Juan Necul praised the initiative for strengthening local identity and making history accessible to new generations.
