Ten Bangladeshi nationals arrested in Raidighi, West Bengal
Police in Raidighi, located in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, have arrested 10 Bangladeshi nationals. The group, consisting of five men, three women, and two children, are members of a single family from Ferozepur, Bangladesh.
According to police, the family entered India illegally six years ago and had been working as bricklayers in Bengaluru. Following recent arrests of Bangladeshi nationals in Bengaluru, the family fled to West Bengal, where they had been staying at a relative’s house in Nagendrapur for one week.
Acting on a tip-off, officers conducted a raid on Wednesday night and confirmed the individuals' identities using Bangladeshi national ID cards. The group has been transferred to a holding centre in Lakshmikantapur within the Diamond Harbour area. Authorities stated that the pushback process to return the individuals to Bangladesh has been initiated.
