Ten Hag praises Morocco's Mazraoui after standout World Cup performance

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag praised former Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui, noting his development into a versatile player capable of operating as a full‑back, centre‑back and midfielder. Ten Hag recalled how Mazraoui’s technical skill, athleticism and game intelligence impressed him and Ajax technical director Marc Overmars during his early years at the club. The former Ajax star was one of Morocco’s best performers in the 1‑1 World Cup draw with the Netherlands, playing on the left side and even covering central defence.

Ten Hag said Mazraoui’s progress reflected his determination and the tactical awareness he cultivated at Ajax, adding that the player could continue to thrive in multiple defensive roles at the highest level.
