Tenaga Nasional Berhad expands green energy partnerships

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has entered into two significant strategic partnerships to advance sustainable energy and green mobility in Malaysia.

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has subscribed to 16,000 Green Electricity Tariff (GET) blocks, totaling 16 GWj of certified green energy per month from May 2026 to December 2027. This agreement makes PTP the largest GET customer among Malaysian ports. The program allows PTP to utilize renewable energy while receiving Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificates (mREC) annually, supporting the port's goal to reduce carbon emissions by 2030.

Additionally, MRT Corp and TNB have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore sustainable energy solutions and green mobility. The collaboration focuses on solar energy potential, electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities, and enhancing electrical infrastructure resilience. Initial efforts will target the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS Link), specifically at the Bukit Chagar ICQ Complex and Wadi Hana Depot.
