Tencent expands AI agent WorkBuddy to 50 percent of China's top 500 firms

Tencent has introduced Buddy One, a unified AI workspace built upon its WorkBuddy agent system. The platform integrates several services, including Tencent Docs, Tencent Meeting, the knowledge app ima, and Tencent Drive, into a single environment with a shared user account and computing power pool.

Using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the WorkBuddy agent can connect to existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. This allows the AI to retrieve operational data and write updated records directly back into corporate databases. To address security and compliance, the solution includes governance features such as fixed agent identities, activity logs, and automated blocking of high-risk actions.

Market data indicates significant adoption in China, with the enterprise version utilized in over 50 industries. According to Omdia and QuestMobile, WorkBuddy is currently the most widely used solution of its kind, reaching 50 percent of China's top 500 companies and 60 percent of its top 100 corporations.

In practical applications, the dairy company Yili reported a 50 percent efficiency increase through the combined use of WorkBuddy, WeCom, and ADP. Additionally, Tencent's cloud division is seeing rapid international growth, with active overseas customers doubling within one year and demand for AI services showing triple-digit growth.
