Tencent launches Hunyuan Hy4 large language model

Tencent has officially released the Hy4 version of its Hunyuan large language model. This update expands pre-training and post-training scales compared to the previous preview version and introduces visual understanding capabilities for the first time.

The model is designed to handle fine-grained images, complex charts, and mathematical problems involving visual data. It also supports computer operations through both command-line interfaces and graphical user interfaces. Specialized training has been implemented for professional software such as Blender and CAD to improve task planning and execution across applications.

Tencent reports that Hy4 shows significant improvements in instruction following, long-text comprehension, and deep research. In financial sector testing involving 213 experts, the model reportedly ranked first among open-source models. The model is currently available on Tencent Cloud and various Tencent products, including WorkBuddy and Yuanbao, while maintaining the same API pricing as the preview version. Tencent plans to open-source the model weights in the near future.
