Tencent has released its Carbon Neutrality Mid-Term Report, detailing the company's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations and supply chain by 2030. The report highlights the energy challenges posed by the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, noting that AI workloads can increase rack power demand from 6–8 kW to as much as 30–100 kW.

To address these challenges, Tencent is implementing its T-AIDC next-generation data center architecture, which is designed for high-density computing and offers power-supply efficiency of up to 98%. The company is also utilizing AI to optimize energy use and align computing tasks with the availability of renewable energy.

Regarding its progress, Tencent reported that its renewable electricity consumption rose from 22.0% in 2024 to 48.5% in 2025. Furthermore, its owned data centers reached a renewable electricity usage rate of 82.9% in 2025. Since its initial carbon neutrality commitment, the company has procured over 6.5 billion kWh of green electricity.
