Tencent to shut down QClaw AI office assistant in 2026
Tencent has announced that its AI-powered remote office assistant, QClaw, will officially cease operations on December 24, 2026. Due to business adjustments, new user registrations and subscription services have been suspended effective immediately.
Existing users can continue to use the service and their accumulated points until the shutdown date. Tencent is providing tools for users to back up their data, including configurations, memories, and chat records, or migrate their data to WorkBuddy, another AI office agent product within the same department. Users who choose to terminate active subscriptions early may apply for refunds.
QClaw was developed by the Tencent PC Manager team based on the OpenClaw framework. While the product saw a massive surge in popularity earlier this year—driven by the OpenClaw open-source framework's rapid growth on GitHub—it faced significant challenges. Analysts noted that the high computational costs of running AI agents often exceeded the revenue generated from user subscriptions, contributing to a sharp decline in monthly traffic.
