Tenerife authorities investigate death of 15-month-old baby

The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation following the death of a 15-month-old baby in Los Abrigos, located in the Granadilla de Abona municipality of southern Tenerife.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning in a private residence. Emergency services, including a medicalized helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), responded after the child's family reported that the infant was unresponsive. Despite resuscitation efforts by medical personnel, the child was pronounced dead at the scene due to cardiorespiratory arrest.

While no signs of violence have been reported, authorities are exploring several hypotheses, including a severe allergic reaction or food poisoning. The child was reportedly a Croatian national residing with their family in the area. An autopsy will be conducted at the Institute of Legal Medicine in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to determine the exact cause of death.
