Tenerife healthcare union files complaint over lack of vehicles and PPE

The Intersindical Canaria Health Federation has filed a complaint with the Labor Inspectorate regarding material and organizational deficiencies within the Primary Care Management of Tenerife.

The union reports a “progressive abandonment” of public health workers, specifically highlighting a lack of sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) for doctors and nurses performing field work. Additionally, the federation claims that staff are frequently required to use their personal vehicles for work-related travel and home visits.

According to spokesperson Pedro Schwartz, while some units have vehicles, staff must often drive them themselves, and many others must use private cars. The union is demanding that the administration provide adequate protective equipment, update staffing levels, incorporate dedicated vehicles, and review the conditions for home visits.
