Tenerife hosts filming for Beatles-themed musical road movie

Filming has commenced in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, for the musical road movie ‘Lennon no estuvo aquí’. Directed by Canarian filmmaker JuanMa V. Betancort, the production uses the Lago Martiánez pools to recreate flashbacks of the Beatles’ 1963 holiday on the island.

The film features actors Javier de Lathouwer (Paul McCartney), Unai Manchado (George Harrison), and Víctor Baston (Ringo Starr) portraying the musicians in their youth. The plot follows characters Astrid (Isabelle Stoffel) and Lucy (Laura Martí) on a race against time to find McCartney’s lost bass guitar to prevent the bankruptcy and closure of the Beatlemanía museum.

Director Betancort noted that the production involves significant work in costume and art direction to ensure the actors closely resemble the iconic band members.
