Tenerife maritime incidents highlight vessel safety concerns

Recent maritime incidents in Tenerife have highlighted concerns regarding nautical safety and regulations. In La Caleta de Adeje, a recreational vessel narrowly avoided hitting a diver after navigating at high speed near the diver's signaling buoy. The incident, captured on video, has prompted discussions regarding the importance of maintaining a minimum 25-meter distance from divers and their signaling buoys, as mandated by maritime safety rules.

Separately, the Guardia Civil rescued six people off the coast of Santa Cruz de Tenerife after their boat lost engine power. The crew was drifting in windy conditions and signaled for help to the Provincial Maritime Service. Authorities successfully towed the vessel to a nearby dock. Following the rescue, the Guardia Civil issued reminders for boaters to check engine fluids, batteries, and fuel levels, as well as to monitor weather conditions before departing.
