Tenerife police conduct major security operation in Arona

The Spanish National Police conducted a large-scale security operation in the tourist areas of Arona, Tenerife, resulting in six arrests and the identification of 494 individuals. The deployment took place between the evening of Friday, September 18, and the early hours of Saturday, September 19.

The operation was carried out in two main phases. The first phase focused on the ‘Milla de Oro’ commercial area on Avenida de Las Américas, where agents identified 133 people, controlled 48 vehicles, and located nine undocumented foreigners. The second phase involved a massive deployment of 155 officers—including 130 uniformed and 25 plainclothes agents—in the Las Verónicas nightlife district.

During the second phase, which lasted approximately nine hours, police conducted vehicle checks, person searches, and inspections of several nightlife establishments. This phase resulted in six arrests, 361 identifications, 14 sanctions, and the detection of three additional undocumented foreigners. The crackdown follows a reported 30 percent increase in crime in the municipality during the first half of the year.
