Regional news: Canary Islands infrastructure and various legal developments
In the Canary Islands, regional authorities have acknowledged limitations in funding large-scale hydraulic infrastructure, prioritizing water supply for human consumption and agricultural reuse through improved purification projects. Simultaneously, the regional government is calling on the Spanish state to guarantee free public transport through 2027 to avoid uncertainty caused by upcoming elections.
Across Latin America, several legal developments have occurred. In Argentina, a jury in Castelli delivered a unanimous guilty verdict in a sexual abuse case, while other judicial actions included the arrest of a man for fraud in Concepción del Uruguay and the sentencing of individuals for digital pedophilia. In Venezuela, a 44-year-old man was detained in Lara for the long-term sexual abuse of his stepdaughter.
Other notable incidents include a fatal workplace accident in Valladolid, Spain, where a worker died after being struck by a pine tree, and a reported assault on a student within a juvenile center in Maranguita, Indonesia.
