Tenerife rehabilitates 11 km of TF-5 highway

The Cabildo de Tenerife is performing rehabilitation work on an 11-kilometer stretch of the TF-5 highway between Icod de los Vinos and El Tanque. The project covers approximately 60,000 square meters of surface area.

According to Roads Councilor Dámaso Arteaga, the objective is to improve road safety conditions and extend the useful life of the highways. The process involves an initial phase of rehabilitating and regularizing the road surface, followed by the application of a cold micro-asphalt layer approximately five millimeters thick to improve grip and road characteristics.

The works, which began on August 30, are scheduled to last approximately two weeks. Due to the technical requirements of the material and the need for specific environmental conditions for consolidation, the road closure has transitioned from nighttime-only to including daytime closures to facilitate the spreading of the micro-asphalt.
