Tenerife Shipyards launches new Hidramar Ultra 22000 floating dry dock

Tenerife Shipyards is set to begin operations with its new Hidramar Ultra 22000 floating dry dock on September 18 in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The project represents an investment of 40.7 million euros and follows more than a decade of development. The infrastructure was officially inaugurated this Wednesday in the presence of the Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana.

The facility measures 240 meters in length and 48 meters in external beam. It significantly expands the region's industrial capacity by allowing the repair of vessels up to 180 meters in length and 22,000 tons, effectively doubling the previous maximum capacity available in the Canary Islands. This enables the local market to service large-scale Panamax cargo ships.

The inaugural operation involves a Panamax-type vessel with an estimated maintenance cost of 1.5 million euros, involving approximately 600 workers. The project received significant public backing, with the Spanish government and the European Union's Feder program covering half of the total investment, amounting to 20.3 million euros.
