Tenerife Tour hotel demolition begins in Las Caletillas

Demolition has begun on the historic Tenerife Tour hotel in Las Caletillas, Candelaria. The project, promoted by Tenerife Tour S.A. and directed by Estudio Funcionall SLP, is expected to take three months to complete. The demolition will be carried out in phases, starting from the upper floors and moving downward, with a focus on recycling materials and managing waste.

The Candelaria City Council ordered the urgent demolition in late September after determining the building had suffered severe and widespread structural damage, posing a safety risk to the public. The complex, which featured a unique architecture of stepped bungalows, had been closed since 2011 and had become a site of degradation, including issues with sanitation and unauthorized entries.

The 8,359-square-meter site is slated for redevelopment. Future plans for the area include commercial uses, such as a Mercadona supermarket, residential housing, and recreational spaces. The project also aims to expand the coastal promenade and create a new plaza featuring a lookout point and solarium.
