Tenho ballet group debuts ‘Sirkka’ in Oulu

The Oulu-based multi-artistic ballet production group Tenho is introducing a new contemporary ballet titled ‘Sirkka’ as part of Oulu’s Cultural Capital Year program. The production features 24 dancers, including both professionals and amateurs.

Choreographed and directed by Tomi Ihanus, the work explores a woman’s internal struggle against societal pressures, anxieties, and inner conflicts. The ballet draws inspiration from the wren, a bird characterized by both fragility and predatory instincts. The narrative incorporates biblical elements, including angels and demons, to represent the human struggle between submission and self-defense.
