Teniente Julio Gallardo Aerodrome works face potential rescheduling

The Bloque Productivo de Última Esperanza, a group of 23 organizations, is seeking information and rescheduling regarding improvement works at the Teniente Julio Gallardo Aerodrome in Puerto Natales. The group expressed concern that a technical report from the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) has not been shared with airlines or local municipalities, potentially impacting air connectivity and the regional economy.

Following a meeting with the Regional Presidential Delegate of Magallanes, authorities confirmed they will technically evaluate a new schedule for the works. The goal is to analyze private sector proposals to prevent economic disruption during peak tourism and commercial months.

Representatives from the productive block, along with local and regional authorities, are scheduled to attend a session of the Public Works Commission of the Chamber of Deputies in Valparaíso on August 18. This meeting will include the Biminister of Public Works and Transport and the National Airport Directorate to discuss alternatives that balance operational safety with economic continuity.
