Tenja celebrates Slavonian folklore at 22nd annual festival

The 22nd annual cultural and traditional manifestation, ‘Slavonijo, u jesen si zlatna’, recently concluded in Tenja. Held from September 3 to 5, the event brought together seven cultural and artistic societies from Slavonia, Posavina, and Ljubuški to celebrate regional folklore, traditional costumes, music, and dance.

The program included a children's folklore review, tamburica concerts, singing performances, and a traditional procession featuring horse-drawn carriages. The event also featured a competition in cooking ‘čobanci’.

During the festivities, Osijek Mayor Ivan Radić highlighted significant urban development in Tenja. He noted that the City of Osijek has invested approximately 14 million euros in the area over the last four years. Key projects include a new kindergarten for about 100 children, a 2.6-kilometer bicycle and pedestrian path, and a 4.4 million euro expansion of the local primary school. Future plans include the renovation of the Adica lake area, which will feature a trim track, a wooden bridge, and recreational facilities.
