Tenjin district in Fukuoka welcomes new eateries, from a customizable mala soup bar to trendy cafés

Fukuoka’s Tenjin area is seeing a wave of new dining spots. A locally popular onigiri shop, Akumade Onigiri, offers a set menu where customers choose from more than ten rice‑ball varieties and side dishes, with lunch service from 11:00 to 15:00. The city also welcomed its first Hokkaido‑style lamb‑skewer restaurant, Daikokuya, which serves fresh, never‑frozen lamb cuts and regional side dishes. In addition, the café enhance coffee introduced a Korean‑origin dessert, the Dubai Chocolate Mochi Gelato, alongside other flavored gelatos.

Separately, the Taiwanese‑style chain New World’s “Binrou no Yoru” opened a dedicated mala‑soup specialty outlet on the 7th floor of Solaria Plaza in May 2026. Diners can pick from more than 40 toppings—including local vegetables, pork, chicken, shrimp and various noodles—mix and match five broth bases, and adjust the level of spiciness. The shop also serves its signature braised pork rice bowl (lu rou fan). Both establishments aim to attract customers seeking customizable and trendy food experiences during the summer season.
