Tennessee basketball coach Rick Barnes discusses team updates

Tennessee Volunteers head coach Rick Barnes addressed several developments regarding the men's basketball program. Following an exhibition loss to Xavier, Barnes noted that the team struggled with defensive consistency and offensive production, emphasizing the need for improved guarding.

Barnes also spoke regarding former assistant coach Justin Gainey, who has departed to become the head coach of the NC State Wolfpack. Barnes expressed high respect for Gainey, describing him as a great evaluator and a person of high character.

In injury news, guard Tyler Lundblade has returned to full-speed team practices following back surgery performed in August. The former Belmont transfer, known for his perimeter shooting, is working to regain conditioning as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
