Tennessee football defense ranks No. 19 nationally in scoring
The Tennessee Volunteers defense currently ranks No. 19 nationally in scoring defense through Week 6 of the season. This performance places the team second in the SEC, trailing only No. 11 Georgia. Under first-year defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, the Volunteers have outperformed several high-profile programs, including Texas (No. 21), Oklahoma (No. 28), and Alabama (No. 45).
In addition to defensive milestones, recent results for Tennessee's upcoming opponents have been mixed. Furman is currently on a four-game losing streak following a 20-15 loss to Tennessee Tech. Georgia Tech secured its first conference victory of the season with a 28-25 win over Duke, while Kennesaw State narrowly lost to Jacksonville State with a final score of 27-26.
