Tennessee Volunteers defeat Kennesaw State 42-9
The No. 15 Tennessee Volunteers defeated Kennesaw State 42-9 at Neyland Stadium, concluding their non-conference schedule with a victory. The win moves the Volunteers to a 3-0 record.
Tennessee's offense was led by a balanced rushing attack that amassed 268 yards. Sophomore running back Daune Morris recorded a career-high 116 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Faizon Brandon contributed 178 passing yards, one touchdown, and one rushing score. Senior DeSean Bishop also scored a rushing touchdown before being slowed by an injury.
The Volunteers' defense limited Kennesaw State to 291 total yards and only 102 yards on the ground. Linebacker Arion Carter led the defensive effort with eight tackles, a sack, and two tackles for loss.
Tennessee now prepares for its Southeastern Conference (SEC) opener next Saturday at home against No. 1 Texas. ESPN's College GameDay is scheduled to broadcast from Knoxville for the matchup, which has already resulted in a sellout at Neyland Stadium.
