Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon injured during loss to Texas

Tennessee football quarterback Faizon Brandon sustained an injury during a 20-17 loss to No. 1 Texas. During the second quarter, Brandon fell awkwardly on his right shoulder and was escorted off the field by the training staff for evaluation. Sophomore quarterback George MacIntyre briefly entered the game in his absence.

Despite the early exit, Brandon returned to the game later in the contest. Head coach Josh Heupel confirmed after the game that the medical staff evaluated the freshman and that he was able to return to play.

Brandon finished the game with 145 passing yards and one touchdown on 17-of-29 passing. He also faced significant pressure from the Texas defense, recording 10 sacks during the game.
