Tennessee soccer defeats Northwestern to finish non-conference slate unbeaten

The No. 10 Tennessee Lady Vols soccer team finished their non-conference schedule undefeated following a 1-0 victory over Northwestern at Regal Soccer Stadium.

Ines Derrien scored the match's only goal via a penalty kick in the 12th minute after Taylor Cheatham was fouled in the penalty area. The win moves Tennessee to a 5-0-1 record heading into SEC conference play.

The match included a 30-minute delay early in the second half due to lightning in the area. Despite a period of intense attacking pressure from Northwestern following the weather delay, Tennessee maintained their shutout to secure the win.
