Tennessee Tech announces quantum network project and community outreach

Tennessee Tech University is expanding its research and community engagement through two major initiatives. The university has secured a $2.1 million federal award to establish a regional quantum communications platform between Cookeville and Crossville. This infrastructure will serve as a regional testbed, allowing researchers to study quantum communications, networking, and post-quantum cryptography across geographically separated locations rather than within a single laboratory.

Additionally, the university is launching the ‘Tech to You’ event series to engage prospective students. An upcoming stop is scheduled for October 28 at the Embassy Suites Murfreesboro, where President Phil Oldham and admissions staff will provide information on academic programs and scholarship processes. The university is offering Presidential Scholarships of up to $10,000 per year for eligible students admitted for the fall 2027 semester.
