Tennessee violent crime rates decline in 2025
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) released its 2025 crime report, indicating a decrease in overall violent crime across the state compared to the previous year.
Key findings show that the murder rate fell by more than 18%, with 484 reported cases in 2025 compared to 592 in 2024. Aggravated assault incidents also saw a decline of more than 15%.
Regarding Group A offenses, which include burglary, theft, and robbery, the TBI reported over 429,000 incidents. The data indicates that a majority of these offenses occurred between 3 p.m. and 5:59 p.m., with homes being the most frequent location for such crimes.
