Tennessee Volunteers face roster challenges ahead of football season

The Tennessee Volunteers football team faces roster challenges ahead of the upcoming season. Starting safety Endrees Farooq has been ruled out for the season after suffering a torn patellar tendon in his right knee during practice on August 14.

In addition to Farooq's injury, the team will be missing linebacker Arion Carter for two games due to suspension during their September 12 matchup against Georgia Tech. The team also continues to manage an ongoing quarterback competition between George MacIntyre and Faizon Brandon.

On the offensive side, wide receiver coach and new pass game coordinator Kelsey Pope is focusing on maintaining player intensity. Pope emphasized the importance of preventing wide receivers Braylon Staley and Mike Matthews from becoming complacent, noting that he aims to keep the group hungry and competitive throughout training camp.
