Tennessee Volunteers football prepares for season amid rising preseason rankings

The Tennessee Volunteers football program is preparing for the upcoming season amidst preseason rankings and fall camp developments. CBS has ranked Tennessee as the No. 17 program in the country, a significant rise from its previous ranking of No. 32.

During fall camp, defensive line coach Rodney Garner has emphasized the need for consistency, noting that the unit has experienced “roller coaster moments” and needs to avoid taking steps backward. The defensive line faces challenges following the offseason loss of several key players.

Offensive line coach Glen Elarbee addressed the team's performance in the previous season, stating that the unit “wilted” during the latter half of the year. He noted that the coaching staff is focused on building a larger “gas tank” to ensure the team can sustain its performance throughout the season.

Looking ahead, the Volunteers are scheduled to open their season against Furman before facing Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, and Texas.
