Tennessee Wendy’s manager arrested for tying coworker to grill
Michiko Burton, a 19-year-old former Wendy’s manager in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has been arrested and charged with simple assault and false imprisonment. The charges stem from an August 30 incident in which Burton allegedly tied a neurodivergent coworker to a kitchen workstation using garbage bags.
During police questioning, Burton claimed the act was part of a TikTok trend. However, a witness who recorded the incident, Nicholus Murphy, stated that no such TikTok video exists. The case was referred to Adult Protective Services and investigated by the Special Victims Unit.
Burton has been terminated from her position. The victim’s family has retained legal counsel, noting that the individual has been significantly traumatized by the event.
