Tennis updates: La Serna reaches Challenger final and Barrios prepares for US Open
Argentine tennis player Juan Manuel La Serna has reached the doubles final at the Augsburg Challenger in Germany. Partnering with Brazil's Eduardo Ribeiro, the duo defeated India's Adil Kalyanpur and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in a semifinal match that lasted one hour and 23 minutes, finishing 4-6, 6-2, and 10-6 in a super tie-break.
La Serna, who previously won a singles Challenger title this season, will face Czech players Dominik Recek and Daniel Siniakov in the final.
In US Open news, Chilean player Tomás Barrios has been drawn against the 28th seed, Belgium's Alexander Bolckx, in the first round. Barrios, ranked 144th, is one of two qualifiers facing a seeded player in the opening round. Meanwhile, fellow Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, ranked 28th and seeded 25th, is set to face Germany's Yannick Hanfmann.
