Tennis updates: Rio Open expansion, Tabilo's schedule, and Lacoste at The Plaza

The tennis world sees several developments across different regions. The Rio Open has launched its ‘A New Cycle Begins Now’ campaign for its 2027 edition. Scheduled for February 13–21, 2027, at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, the tournament plans a major architectural expansion. The venue will move to the Pião do Prado sector, increasing the space from 40,000 m² to 67,000 m² and boosting spectator capacity by 50%.

In professional play, Chilean player Alejandro Tabilo has confirmed his participation in the upcoming ATP 500 in Tokyo, following his scheduled appearance at the ATP 250 in Chengdu. Tabilo recently secured a victory against Yannick Hanfmann at the US Open.

In New York, fashion brand Lacoste has partnered with The Plaza hotel to launch ‘Club Lacoste New York’. This luxury activation, running through early September, features themed gastronomy at the Palm Court and immersive tennis-inspired installations, celebrating the brand's heritage and founder René Lacoste.
