Chiben Wakayama and Tenri advance to Koshien semifinals

The 108th National High School Baseball Championship has determined its final four teams following the quarterfinal round. Chiben Wakayama and Tenri have secured their spots in the semifinals.

Chiben Wakayama advanced after a dominant 11-3 victory over Sendai Ikuei. In the semifinals, Chiben Wakayama will face Yokohama High School. Yokohama reached the semifinals by defeating Hanamaki Higashi 6-0, led by pitcher Oda Shoki, who recorded 10 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout.

Tenri secured its place in the semifinals by defeating Mie 7-0. They are scheduled to face Kenda Takasaki in the next round. Kenda Takasaki earned their spot after a narrow 1-0 victory over Ariake in a tie-break finish.

The tournament has also highlighted individual performances, such as Oda Shoki’s high-velocity pitching and the participation of Sendai Ikuei’s first female team member, Hoshi Yotsuba, who contributed to the team's data analysis and defensive drills.
