Tensions rise among Flamingo Revolution organizers in Albania
Organizers of the Flamingo Revolution movement in Albania are facing internal conflict following mutual accusations of corruption and political opportunism. Andi Tepelena, a prominent figure in the movement, accused fellow protester Genti Progni of exploiting the movement for personal gain after obtaining political asylum in Canada. Tepelena claimed that Progni is using the protests from abroad to sow division.
In response, Progni accused Tepelena of being a paid agent, alleging that Tepelena has met with the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, and the Director of the Tirana Police. Tepelena denied these claims, stating he has never sold out the cause and remains present on the streets of Albania daily.
These internal disputes occur as new protests are being organized in Tirana, including demonstrations led by the Democratic Party and student groups.
