Tenuta di Murlo estate undergoes restoration in Umbria
Tenuta di Murlo, a private estate spanning over 7,000 hectares in Umbria, Italy, north of Perugia, has undergone significant transformation over the last 25 years. The estate possesses ancient roots dating back to 1000 BCE, with historical layers including Etruscan and Roman civilizations. The current castle is built upon the foundations of an ancient Roman villa.
Managed by the Caraba Tetamanti Radziwil family, the estate has transitioned from a primarily agricultural and castle-focused property into a hospitality destination. Since 2000, Carlotta Caraba Tetamanti and her husband have restored nine historical structures scattered across the landscape, including medieval farmhouses, mills, watchtowers, and old churches, to preserve the original architecture while creating tourism opportunities.
