Tenzing film trailer released for Everest ascent story

Apple Original Films has released the trailer for ‘Tenzing’, a narrative feature directed by Jennifer Peedom. The film chronicles the historic 1953 ascent of Mount Everest by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary.

Genden Phuntsok stars as Tenzing Norgay, while Tom Hiddleston portrays Edmund Hillary. The story focuses on the partnership between the two climbers, highlighting the differences in their backgrounds, class, and culture. The film also emphasizes a Himalayan perspective, portraying the mountain as the sacred mother goddess Chomolungma rather than a peak to be conquered.

Produced by See-Saw Films and filmed in Nepal and New Zealand, the movie follows Tenzing’s journey to join Colonel John Hunt’s British expedition. The film is scheduled to premiere in selected cinemas and stream globally on Apple TV on October 16, 2026.
