Teoscar Hernández faces criticism after defensive error and hitting slump

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández has faced criticism following a defensive error during a game against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Hernández failed to make a clean play on a ball hit toward the left-field corner by Drake Baldwin. The miscue resulted in a two-run double for Baldwin, allowing Atlanta to take a 4-3 lead.

This defensive struggle follows a period of significant offensive decline for the veteran slugger. Over his last 18 games, Hernández has hit .172 with no home runs and 22 strikeouts. Due to these struggles, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts opted to leave Hernández out of the starting lineup for the series opener against the Braves, describing the move as a “day off” to address mechanical issues and frustration at the plate.

While fans have expressed frustration online regarding his defensive reliability and recent performance, Roberts indicated that Hernández would return to the lineup for the remainder of the road trip.
