Tepebaşı Municipality corruption indictment filed in Eskişehir
An indictment has been submitted to the Eskişehir Heavy Penal Court regarding an embezzlement and corruption investigation into the Tepebaşı Municipality. The investigation, conducted by the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, involves 22 suspects, 13 of whom are currently in custody.
The indictment alleges that irregularities occurred during 197 direct procurement processes for various services, including catering, organization, and promotional items. Authorities claim that technical specifications were not prepared and that fake or misleading bid letters were used to manipulate market price research.
Evidence gathered through MASAK, tax audit reports, and police investigations suggests that millions of liras were transferred from municipal resources to shell companies. These funds were reportedly moved out of the system through cash withdrawals, personal account transfers, and cryptocurrency platforms. The indictment specifically notes suspicious financial movements between company officials and municipal staff, including the Deputy Mayor and the Private Secretary to the Mayor.
