Tepeji del Río councilwoman reports threats from mayor following vote

In Tepeji del Río, Hidalgo, councilwoman Dulce Tapia has filed an investigation following alleged threats and abuse of authority by Mayor Tania Valdez Cuéllar. Tapia claims the conflict arose after she voted against a project to expand an industrial park in Cantera de Villagrán, citing a lack of timely documentation for review. Tapia reported that Valdez Cuéllar confronted her after a session, allegedly telling her, “Dulce, eso no se hace, morder la mano de quien te da de tragar,” and calling her a “traicionera” (traitor).

In Guanajuato, political tensions are rising as the Morena party criticized the Navarro-Smith family, who have governed the municipality for nine years, accusing them of creating a “cacicazgo” (political bossism). Meanwhile, state officials announced that people with disabilities in Guanajuato will receive comprehensive care, including medical and cultural services, in addition to non-contributory pensions.

Regarding social security, Mexican authorities reminded pensioners living abroad that they must update their survival certificates every six months through IMSS, ISSSTE, or ISSFAM to avoid pension suspensions. For IMSS specifically, the certificate is mandatory for those under the 1997 regime, retirees living abroad, and former IMSS employees.
