Tepeji del Río officials face bribery allegations over land sale

The sale of 17,909.37 square meters of roadways within the Tepeji Industrial Park is facing scrutiny following allegations of corruption and financial loss to the municipality. Sabino García Jasso, former director of CAAMTROH, has accused members of the local council of receiving bribes, including money and vehicles, to support the transfer of these lands to private domain for sale to Inversiones H. E. B. S. A. de C. V.

García Jasso claims the transaction, valued at approximately 12.3 million pesos, represents a ‘bad business’ for the municipality. He argues the land was undervalued at roughly 680 pesos per square meter, failing to account for its industrial potential. Furthermore, he questioned the valuation process, suggesting it should have been conducted by an independent public notary rather than the municipal Cadastre office. Opposition members in the council have also raised concerns regarding the lack of time provided to review the legal and financial documentation.
