Tepeyahualco Mayor arrested in Puebla for bribery and abuse of authority

Said de Jesús Godos Luna, the municipal president of Tepeyahualco de Hidalgo, Puebla, has been arrested by the State Attorney General's Office (FGE). The arrest took place in the municipality of San Juan Xiutetelco following investigative field work.

Godos Luna faces allegations of abuse of authority, failure to fulfill legal duties, and bribery (cohecho). He was serving his second consecutive term as mayor, having been re-elected for the 2024-2027 period under the Movimiento Ciudadano party.

This arrest follows previous controversies involving the official, including an incident in June 2023 involving gunfire during a local fair and public intoxication during a musical performance in July. His detention marks the fourth instance of a Movimiento Ciudadano mayor being arrested in the state of Puebla.
