Tepian Narosa targeted for national strategic development
The Kuantan Singingi Regency government is working to develop the Tepian Narosa area in Teluk Kuantan as a strategic national zone for tourism, culture, and economy. A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held to draft the Strategic Area Infrastructure Development Plan (RIPKS), involving central and local government officials, experts, artists, and cultural figures.
Yan Hiksas, Acting Deputy III of the Office of the President of Indonesia (KSP), has urged for greater central government attention toward the area. He emphasized that the potential of Tepian Narosa and the Pacu Jalur Festival should be communicated to the Ministry of Tourism, as these assets represent significant Indonesian cultural wealth.
The development aims to move beyond mere physical infrastructure along the Kuantan River, focusing on creating a year-round destination that integrates social, cultural, and economic activities. This synergy between local and central governments is intended to strengthen the region's capacity to host major cultural events and drive local economic growth.
