TEPJF issues rulings on Morena electoral violations in Mexico
The Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) has issued rulings regarding alleged electoral violations by the Morena party in Mexico.
In Baja California, the Guadalajara Regional Chamber confirmed a fine against Morena for a serious ordinary violation. The sanction follows reports that party members conducted affiliations among beneficiaries of social programs in front of federal welfare offices in Tijuana. The tribunal rejected Morena's appeal to invalidate the resolution, maintaining the penalty.
In a separate matter, the TEPJF addressed complaints from Movimiento Ciudadano regarding alleged early campaign acts by Morena members in Tabasco and Chihuahua. The Superior Chamber ruled that there is no evidence of a coordinated “national strategy” for these actions. Consequently, the tribunal determined that these specific cases must be analyzed by local electoral authorities rather than the National Electoral Institute (INE), as the alleged conducts are confined to local territorial processes.
