Teqball eyes Olympic inclusion after Asian Games debut

The International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) expressed confidence that teqball could eventually be included in the Olympic Games following its debut at the Asian Games in Nagoya. During the event, Thai athletes demonstrated the sport's growing popularity by winning three of the five contested categories.

Laszlo Vajda, General Secretary of FITEQ, stated that the debut at the Asian Games serves as a vital platform to attract the attention of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He noted that the global teqball community dreams of Olympic recognition, citing the sport's engagement and relevance to young people as key factors.

Teqball, a hybrid of soccer and table tennis, has seen increased professional interest, with major clubs such as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona utilizing teqball tables in their training centers. Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has also supported the sport, noting its ability to help professional players improve technical skills during warm-ups.
